What factors an employer should consider while hiring a new candidate?
An organization cannot achieve its goal with its own. It has to employ skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled human resources according to their size, resources, and nature of business. After hiring them, we provide essential trainings, and guidelines to them and expects them to do organizational work smoothly and achieve the target. Appropriate human forces have much more impact in meeting a business goal or target. If hiring is done wrong, then it is difficult to meet the business goal. So, one should be very careful while hiring human resources for their organization. An employer must at least focus on following quality in any candidates when they are hiring for their organization.
There are several meanings of word Candidate:
According to the Cambridge dictionary, a person who is competing to get a job called a candidate. In the same way, according to the oxford learner dictionary, a person who is applying for a job is called a candidate.
Characteristics of the better candidates:
1. Positive attitude:
Candidates with a positive attitude accepts their past mistake and go ahead with improvement. They will consider good and ignore the ugly matter of anything. They provide quick response while anything goes wrong. This kind of attitudes helps an employer to go ahead with the goal. So, one should focus on hiring the candidates who possess positive attitude.
2. Team player:
An individual does well at their personal level in many cases but if they fail to collaborate with groups then this will hamper the overall business functions. If an individual is smooth in both personal and team level, overall efficiency will go to next level. So, one should be careful while hiring new candidates if they have characteristics of a team player or not.
3. Self-motivated:
An employer or management cannot present himself all-time at the workplace to monitor whether all things are going well or not. if the efficiency or engagement of the workforce affects work in the absence of management or employer, then we could say there is a lack of self-motivation factor in an organization. This can be a burden to an employer if they have to engage all their time to manage the workforce. So, employer has to ensure whether the work is going well or not in their absence. If an employer hires a self-motivated workforce in their organization, then they can focus on the crucial aspects on their businesses. For these reasons one should consider while hiring candidates if the candidates are self-motivated or not.
4. Strong work ethics:
Candidates having strong work ethics always tends to aim higher and does not satisfy until that level is achieved. They have the passion for work, and do not care much about the routine timetable. They generally focused on work, performance and are goal oriented. While hiring any candidate, strong work ethics factor must be examined.
5. Dependable:
If an individual is doing all the works accordingly, sincerely, honestly and showing the best performance, then it is an ideal candidate whom we can trust and be dependable for crucial works. We can also delegate some job authority to them in our physical absence to get things done. So, an employer must observe this intangible quality in any candidate before hiring.
6. Detail oriented:
Information plays a crucial role in any organization. And how well the information is understood by the workforce also affects the business growth. If the team only listens and focuses on work delivery, then such characteristics might not be a good signal. Its important to have detail discussion on scope of work, end achievement and so on. So, an employer must consider if the new hires has such quality or not.
7. Good communicator:
Communication is very crucial for an organizational growth. It helps to communicate stakeholders, employers, customers voice to the company. And also pinpoints areas of improvement for any organizations. So, an employer has to make sure that an ideal candidate has good communication skills.
8. Adaptability:
The world is changing fast in terms of technology and innovation. An ideal candidate must adopt themselves to cope with the fast-changing scenario in order to be productive at work. Employer must consider this factor while hiring any new candidates for the betterment of their organization at large.
